David BarredaDavid Barreda is the Visuals Editor at ChinaFile and a Multimedia Producer at the Asia Society’s Center on US-China Relations. He spent over a decade as a journalist working for newspapers, first as a staff photojournalist and later as an award-winning multimedia storyteller. Versed in video, still photography, audio, and a variety of interactive multimedia production tools, David’s passion is telling the uncommon stories of common, everyday people.

His work has appeared in the pages of the Miami HeraldSan Jose Mercury News, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and the Pulitzer-prize winning Denver Rocky Mountain News. He served as webmaster and producer for MercuryNewsPhoto.com when it was recognized as “Best Use of the Web” by the National Press Photographer’s Association. David received his B.A from Middlebury College and he holds a Master’s in Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Born in Peru, in the southern mountainous department of Moquegua (which is a Quechua word meaning “a silent place”), David grew up on a small farm in Vermont.

David currently lives in Brooklyn, three blocks from Prospect Park.
